In a statement issued on Thursday, the Arab League Secretary General Nabil Elaraby told representatives of the Western European and Others Group (WEOG), which nominated Israel, that it was unreasonable for Israel to head the committee. He also affirmed that Israel, as an occupying power, has regularly committed illegal acts against Palestinians and committed violations of the international law.

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Arab League has slammed the nomination of Israel as chair of the UN General Assembly Sixth Committee, affirming that such step was a "disaster".
