Jordanian student wins award at Intel ISEF

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A Jordanian student bagged a top award at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) recently held in Arizona in the United States of America for a project in environmental engineering.

Yara Muhannad Marei, 17, from the Jubilee School, won the fourth award in the environmental engineering category for her project titled: "Adsorption and Desorption of Oil Spills using Jordanian Zeolitic Tuff".

The Jordanian delegation to the prestigious fair comprised 16 students with 12 projects. The high-profile global gathering brought together 1,700 students from more than 60 countries.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Muhammad Thneibat congratulated Marei and wished her further success and said the achievement was a culmination of a distinctive educational process in Jordan. At Intel ISEF, awards are based on students’ abilities to tackle challenging scientific questions, use authentic research practices, and solutions for the problems of tomorrow, where doctoral level scientists review and judge their work.
