Finance minister meets US, IMF, WB officials

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Finance Minister Omar Malhas held talks during his presence in Washington to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, with officials from the US administration and the two international financial institutions.
The minister met with US Secretary of State John Kerry and Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, Catherine Novelli, during which they discussed the US initiative that aims at bringing 1.5 billion people online by 2020.
Malhas also discussed with the US official in the presence of Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury, scopes of economic cooperation between Jordan and the United States.
Separately, the minister met with Assistant US Treasury Secretary Ramin Toloui and Senior-Officer of the International Economic Affairs of the White House National Security Council Christina Segal-Knowles for talks on major challenges facing Jordan as well as mechanisms to support the Kingdom's economy.
Malhas also met with US businessmen and investors and discussed with them investment privileges offered by Jordan to investors.
The minister also met with a number of senior officials from the IMF and reviewed with them the visit of an IMF mission to Jordan during May 17-21 to discuss with the government details of the new program with the fund.
