Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Jordanian government and the European Union signed on Monday a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance “partnership in the protection against extremism” and promote dialogue and religious tolerance.
The agreement was signed by Jordanian Interior Minister Salameh Hamad and the EU ambassador in Amman, Andrea Fontana, according to the official Jordanian news agency Petra.
Hamad explained that the agreement “strengthens cooperation” between Jordan and the EU in combating extremism and violence through the adoption of specific strategies to enhance dialogue and religious tolerance.
Meanwhile, Fontana pointed out that Jordan and the EU will work together to “raise preventive capabilities of both sides” through adopting a comprehensive approach for “strategic contacts, research, training and rehabilitation programs.”
Under the agreement, the EU will expand its support to the Jordanian interior ministry in the fight against extremism and violence.
