Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A specialized ministerial team Wednesday visited the southern governorate of Madaba on the first leg tour to discuss the draft for upgrading governorate development programs for the years 2016-2018.
The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Imad Fakhoury, said the programs are being drafted under Royal directives to prepare a work plan to develop governorates in cooperation with the civil society, the private sector and stakeholders in each governorate.
During field visits to the governorates, the programs will be discussed with local teams, Fakhouri explained, adding that the plans will also be discussed with MPs and senators of each governorate, civil society institutions, the private sector, municipal councils, and representatives from youth and women’s sectors.
Discussions based on participatory approach, will focus on priority projects that can be implemented, while equally addressing the needs and priorities at the district and governorate levels and with a great attention to projects with a competitive quality, Fakhoury said.
The minister stated that the work will build on what has been carried out under the 2013-2016 program, in line with the latest achievements in local developments embodied in the draft decentralization law.
Fakhouri explained that through the Gulf Cooperation Council’s grant, Kuwait provided JD45.8 million to finance projects in 2013, JD60 million in 2014, and JD53.3 million in 2015.
