The park, covering a total area of about 178 dunums, will serve as a recreational, sport and cultural landmark and a breathing space to the people of Irbid and surrounding areas.

The Crown Prince unveiled a commemorative plaque and planted an olive tree as he toured the park, which was constructed at a cost of JD15 million, and housed a conservatory, bird park, sports fields, play areas for children, a 280-meter-long artificial river among other facilities.

In an interview with Petra, Bani Hani expressed his gratitude to His Majesty King Abdullah for his directive to set up such parks, and also thanked the Crown Prince for opening the facility, which is designated for the local community of Irbid and the communities around the governorate.

The mayor said that the park also houses a multi-purpose restaurant, four football playgrounds and two basketball courts, green spaces, six overpasses on top of the man-made river as well as water reservoirs. He said his municipality will also use the conservatory to sell seedlings to the public.
