Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Going by the trend in the last two months the number of Saudi tourists is expected to exceed 1 million in the three summer months says Jordanian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Jamal Al-Shamayleh.
Al-Shamayleh says the overall number of tourists in Jordan is between 3 and 4 million with Saudi visitors accounting for 40 percent of them. This is because Saudis see Jordan as an extension of Saudi Arabia in terms of values and customs. He added that in Jordan tourist places are in tune with Saudi traditions which are similar to that in Jordan especially family tourism.
Saudi tourists make sure they visit as many places as possible including marine tourism in Aqaba the Dead Sea desert tourism at Wadi Rum and Ummayed desert castles Al-Shamayleh said adding that all aspects of tourism in Jordan are appropriate for the Saudi tourist.
Col. Abdul Monem Al-Haizan Jouf passport spokesman said the Al-Haditha land crossing point which is under the Al-Qurrayat Governorate witnessed 100000 Saudi visitors going in the direction of Jordan during this Eid holiday season.
He added that the passport department and its director Col. Ali Al-Anazi drew up a plan to facilitate regulations for those departing Saudi Arabia because of the rush of holidaymakers.
Al-Haizan said the number of departing travelers stood at 117416 with those entering Saudi Arabia at 35431 between July 9 and July 22 and the border points have huge traffic pile-ups on both sides.
