Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - U.S. space agency NASA said this week that a camera on one of its satellites has sent its first image picturing the entire sunlit side of our planet, one million miles away.

This first-of-its-kind color picture came from the spacecraft’s Earth Poly-chromatic Imaging Camera and Nasa said the photo was made by combining three separate images.

Pictures of Earth from space date back to the 1960s and the almost perfect one was the famous Blue Marble shot by Apollo astronauts in 1972 while they were on their way to the moon.

According to Nasa’s website, all previous images including the blue marble are in fact composite photographs constructed with a plurality of images taken by different satellites.
