Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Nasser Judeh on Thursday held talks with visiting Saudi counterpart Adel Al Jubair on bilateral ties and ways to cement them as well as the latest developments in the region.

At the outset of the meeting, Judeh thanked Saudi Arabia for its supportive stands, while stressing the need to continue cooperation and coordination on various issues of common concern.

Al Jubair, meanwhile, said that the two countries enjoy deep and strategic ties, affirming that his country sees Jordan as a strong ally and partner. "Jordan’s stability and security are important to Saudi Arabia," the top Saudi diplomat said.

The two ministers discussed efforts to fight extremism and terrorism, of which the two kingdom’s suffered, while stressing the importance of uniting efforts to fight terrorism and terrorists that exploit Islam as a cover for their criminal acts that have nothing to do with the true Islam.

"The fight against terrorism is our fight," Judeh said, stressing the need to confront anyone who attempts to tarnish the image of Islam.

Further, the two foreign ministers discussed the Palestinian cause and the importance of re-launching a serious and effective peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis. The peace process must be guided by a timeframe and lead to the two-state solution that would see the establishment of a viable and independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Meanwhile, Judeh thanked Saudi Arabia for its support to help Jordan grapple with the repercussions of the Syrian refugees.

The visiting Saudi minister said that his country appreciates the role played by Jordan at the regional level under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, as well as the King’s efforts to boost security and stability in the region.
