Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - In line with its efforts to support various sporting events and youth activities in the Kingdom, PepsiCo-Jordan sponsored ‘Irbid Race’, which was organized by the Jordanian Association of Marathons (Run Jordan) in cooperation with the Irbid Governorate and the Greater Irbid Municipality on Friday 22 May, 2015. As part of its sponsorship, PepsiCo-Jordan was the official and exclusive distributer of its pure drinking water, Aquafina, during the event.
‘Irbid Race’ received wide participation from sports clubs, schools, universities, and youth organizations in Irbid. The marathon consisted of multiple races including a 10 km race and a 5 km race, in addition to similar races for the disabled and blind. All proceeds from this race were donated to participating charities such as the SOS Children's Villages, Jordan Swimming Federation, Arabian Horse Club, Love and Peace Association, and West Irbid Association for the Disabled.
"By sponsoring ‘Irbid Race’, we hope to encourage community members from different age groups to lead healthy lifestyles, be more athletic and social, and embrace new hobbies, while also contributing to charities and humanitarian work. As responsible corporate citizens, we strive to leverage such opportunities to contribute to social development," commented Nidal Hamam, General Manager of PepsiCo-Jordan.
In turn, Run Jordan’s Director, Lina Kurd, thanked PepsiCo-Jordan for its ongoing assistance during the Association’s activities, commending its sense of responsibility towards the local community.
PepsiCo-Jordan’s involvement in ‘Irbid Race’ falls under the Company’s agreement with Run Jordan, under which it committed to supporting all marathons and events held by the Association under the patronage of HRH Prince Firas bin Ra’ad during 2015. These events include the Children’s Race, Dead Sea Ultra Marathon, Irbid Marathon, Amman Marathon, Amman Children’s Marathon, and Red Sea Half Marathon in Aqaba, in addition to all press conferences and training programs organized by Run Jordan over the course of the year.
