Mideast issues are Jordan's top priority at the Security Council

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan's permanent representative to the United Nations, Dina Kawar, Wednesday said that the Palestinian cause, combating terrorism, the Syrian crisis and regional issues including Yemen, Libya and Iraq will be the prominent topics Jordan will raise during the Kingdom's presidency of the Security Council in April.
During her meeting with ambassadors of member states at the UN Security Council, Kawar said Jordan's top priority during the tenure of its presidency is the Palestinian issue which Jordan sees as a crux of the conflict in the region.
She also said that on the Kingdom's agenda are confronting terrorism and extremism, the Syrian crisis and its ramifications on neighboring countries in addition to issues in the Yemeni, Libyan and Iraqi arenas.
The Security Council is scheduled to hold closed-door consultations Thursday presided over by Jordan at the level of ambassadors during which the Kingdom will officially submit its action plan.
Jordan Wednesday officially assumed the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council for the month of April.
