Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Muslim Brotherhood's Islamic Action Front Party on Sunday denounced the recent designation of the Muslim Brotherhood as a "terrorist" organization by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In a statement, the party said the decision of the UAE ran counter to both logic and wisdom.
"Why should organizations that serve Islam under recognition from all countries be targeted?" the Islamic Action Front Party asked in the statement.
"Why should Islamists alone be accused of being terrorists, while there is real international terrorism sponsored by the United States and Israel?"
On Saturday, the UAE included the Muslim Brotherhood in a terrorism list that also contained 82 other movements and organizations.
Included in the list were the ISIL, the Shiite Houthi movement and Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis, which has been launching attacks against the Egyptian army for months now.
The Islamic Action Front Party said in its statement that many of the organizations included in the new list were "moderate."
Egypt on Sunday welcomed the recent designation of the Muslim Brotherhood as a "terrorist" organization by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
"Egypt welcomes the decision of the UAE to include the Brotherhood in a list of terrorist organizations," Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Badr Abdel-Ati said in a statement.
He said there was coordination between Cairo and Abu Dhabi in all fields, including the security field.
The Brotherhood, the movement from which ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi hails, has not issued a comment on the decision of the UAE government yet.
Egypt branded the Brotherhood a "terrorist" movement late last year following the bombing of a security headquarters in the Nile Delta.
The label was attached to the movement amid a massive crack down on its members, supporters and leaders on the streets of Cairo and other Egyptian provinces.
The government accused movement members and leaders of involvement in post-Morsi ouster violence, but the movement vehemently denies such a charge, saying that it would continue to peacefully campaign against the ouster of the elected president.
Saudi Arabia also designated the Muslim Brotherhood a "terrorist" movement in March of this year, following in Egypt's footsteps.
