However, you were always there on the back of my mind. So, I seized the first opportunity I got to welcome you to Jordan, the land of probity and hospitality.

Wells has been bombarded with an enormous amount of criticism from various fronts after having claimed that Jordanians constitute (27%) of the population of Jordan. However, as it turned out, the American embassy in Jordan has vehemently denied that statement. Having said this, as a true Jordanian, I would like to welcome the new ambassador Wells in her second country Jordan. I take it upon myself to introduce Wells to the masses, showing that her intentions have always been noble.

On 10th April 2014, President Obama nominated Alice G. Wells to be the US ambassador to Jordan, replacing Stuart Jones, who was appointed as the US ambassador to Iraq. Wells, 51, was born in Beirut, Lebanon, where her father, a US Army officer, was stationed. Shejoined the State Department as an expert on the Soviet Union. She was among the first US diplomats to serve in the new republic of Tajikistan, helping to open the embassy there. Wells subsequently served as the political-military officer at the embassy in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Wells finally got to Russia in 2006, serving as a minister counselor for political affairs in the U.S. embassy in Moscow. In 2009, Wells returned to the United States and served in several high-profile staff positions. Until 2011, she was an executive assistant to the Under Secretary for Political Affairs William J. Burns. Wells was then named executive assistant to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, working with her until 2012. Wells speaks Russian and has studied Arabic, Urdu and Hindi.

Based on my experience, knowledge and common sense, it seems that Wells has had Jordanians' best interest at heart whether her statement had been true or otherwise. That is, if the former had been true i.e.if she had stated that Jordanians constitute (27%) of the population of Jordan, I believe that she was trying to draw the world’s attention to the crucial role that Jordan plays to host millions of people, especially in light of the chaotic atmosphere surrounding the Middle East nowadays. However, if the latter had been true i.e. not having said anything of the sort, then I believe she meant that migrants and refugees constitute (27%) of the population of Jordan, in which case, she was also trying to help Jordan receive more aid and support. Also, what Wells has said should incite every single Jordanian to reconsider the policies of the government with regard to renouncing Jordanian citizenship. As far as I am concerned, Wells is in favour of Jordan and she is warmly welcome. I fWells is still there when I come back to Jordan after two years, I would like to invite her to have Mansaf at my house in Karak. Wish you more success and prosperity.
