Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will visit Jordan on Tuesday as the first stop of an upcoming Arab tour which will include visits to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait from 8 to 11 July.

Shoukry will visit the Arab nations to discuss current events of regional importance. A statement released by the foreign ministry noted that Iraq will be among the topics discussed.

Bilateral relations will also be a topic of discussion, especially political and economic cooperation.

In Jordan, Shoukry will speak at the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, where he will discuss “the latest developments in the occupied territories in light of the recent escalation by the Israeli forces against the Palestinian people”.

In June, Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud met briefly with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on board the Saudi King’s plane. The pair discussed bilateral relations and the “Friends of Egypt” conference, which will be organised to provide economic support for Egypt’s struggling economy.

Last month Shoukry made his first overseas visit to Saudi Arabia. Shoukry was appointed to foreign minister shortly after Al-Sisi’s electoral victory. He replaced Nabil Fahmy. Heads of state from the three nations, whom Shoukry is slated to visit, were in Cairo for Al-Sisi’s inauguration.
