Home World FM, Mexican counterpart discuss ties, region 06-07-2014 03:12 PM Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh met on Sunday with his Mexican counterpart Jose Antonio Meade Kuribrena, to discuss bilateral ties and developments in the region, mainly Iraq, Syria and the Palestinian issue. The two ministers stressed the distinguished partnership and strategic ties between the two countries and their leaderships as well as their keenness to expand these ties and build on accomplishments made in the wake of the important visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Mexico four months ago. They also voiced their keenness to continue coordination and consultations on various issues of common interest. Judeh also discussed with his Mexican minister the crisis in Syria and its repercussions on neighboring countries, mainly Jordan, stressing the importance of arriving at a political solution that guarantees Syria's security and unity with the participation of all segments of the Syrian people. On Iraq, the foreign minister expressed Jordan's full support to any solution that guarantees the stability and unity of Iraq and its people, calling for an inclusive political solution that engages all segments of the Iraqi people in the political process. The two ministers also reviewed efforts to achieve peace between the Palestinians and Israelis that should lead towards the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state as per the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Judeh said in a joint press statement after the meeting that the visit of the Mexican minister comes as a follow up of the successful visit of His Majesty the King to Mexico and his meetings with the Mexican president and other officials. He said that Jordan, under the directives of His Majesty the King, will open an embassy in Mexico, noting that Mexico will also open an embassy in the Kingdom.
