Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said that the health of Jordanian citizens and the issues of safety of their food and drugs top the government's priorities.
During visits to the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) and Jordan Institute for Standards and Metrology (JISM), Ensour stressed the government's support to departments concerned with monitoring and inspecting food and medicines due to their important role in protecting citizens.
During a meeting with the Director General of JFDA Hayel Obeidat, the prime minister stressed the importance of the department's role as it is directly linked to the safety and health of citizens and the economy through enhancing quality.
He said the decline in the number of violations registered by the JFDA against various institutions is attributed to an aware citizenry and active institutions such as the JFDA as well as employers, merchants and industrialists who respond to general health and safety requirements.
Ensour also inspected the JFDA's labs and the mechanism of monitoring local and imported medicine and food.
During his visit to the Jordan Institute for Standards and Metrology (JISM), the prime minister said that Jordan has taken major steps in various fields including the economy.
He said the JISM is highly respected at the local and international levels due to the scientific approach it adopts in its work.
The prime minister was also briefed by Director General of JISM Haydar Al Zaben on the role of the institute and its work mechanisms.
