Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - In a measure to streamline the entry and exit of Syrian refugees, Lebanon on Saturday asked the displaced Syrians who are registered with the United Nations not to cross into Syria starting tomorrow or risk losing their status as refugees.

The Interior Ministry said in a statement that the order would be passed to the public security department to be enforced at all border posts, expressing hope that the Syrian refugees would strictly adhere to the instructions.

It said the measure stemmed from the ministry's concern over Lebanon's security and the refugees' relationship with Lebanese host communities in order to prevent any tensions between them.

The ministry asked municipalities, U.N. agencies and other international organizations concerned with the refugees' affairs to take the order seriously and inform the refugees of the new policy.

Lebanon is host of over one million Syrian refugees.
