Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - RGH Entertainment, a division of Rubicon Group Holding has celebrated the premiere of Postman Pat: The Movie at Leicester Square’s Odeon Cinema in anticipation of its nationwide opening to the public in cinemas across the UK on Friday 23rd May 2014.
The premiere hosted a star-studded line up led by members of the cast including Stephen Mangan (from Green Wing) as Postman Pat, Rupert Grint (from the Harry Potter film series), International recording star Ronan Keating, who provides the singing voice for Postman Pat in the film, and Parminder Nagra (Bend It Like Beckham, The Blacklist).
The success of the premiere event illustrates the popularity of Postman Pat which began life in 1981 as an animated children’s television series that follows the adventures of Pat Clifton, a postman in the fictional British village of Greendale. It has subsequently been translated and broadcast in over 80 territories across the world.
“Partnering with Lionsgate UK and Classic Media is testament to the level of creativity and latest techniques in stereoscopic CG that RGH Entertainment has developed,” said Randa Ayoubi, CEO of Rubicon Group Holding and Executive Producer for the film. “Postman Pat is an incredibly popular IP and we have treated his character with the same amount of affection and love that fans have for him across the world.”
Postman Pat: The Movie is directed by Mike Disa (Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil) from a screenplay written by Nicole Dubuc, with a story by the award-winning Kim Fuller (Spice World, High Heels & Low Lifes) and Annika Bluhm, the long-time producer of the Postman Pat television series. The cast also includes Jim Broadbent (Iris, Moulin Rouge!) and David Tennant (Doctor Who, Harry Potter)
Robert Anich serves as producer. Rubicon Group Holding’s Randa Ayoubi executive produces alongside Eric Ellenbogen and Doug Schwalbe of Classic Media. David J. Corbett also shares in executive producer duties. Timeless Films manages sales with Icon Film Distribution releasing the film in the UK and Eire via Lionsgate.
Speaking at the premiere, Vanessa Whiffen who attended the premiere with her young son who is an big Postman Pat fan said: “The Movie is pure entertainment from beginning to end. Hearing the children laugh in the auditorium was heavenly, and I hummed the tunes all day long!”
