Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Internal elections were held during the first meeting of the new Shura party. Members met at at the Party's headquarters where Mr. Firas Al -Abadi was elected Secretary General.

Members also elected three Vice- Secretary General, members of the Central Committee, head of the Central Committees, heads of Provincial Councils. The Shura party plans to establish its political bureau by next week.

During the meeting, the new Secretary General said the Party will play a real active role in the process of nation-building and stressed the need for direct communication with the grassroots of the party in various provinces.

Al Abadi said that the Shura party will raise the voices of the silent majority and the marginalized. He stressed that party members represent the hundreds of educated Jordanians, many of them have contributed to the construction of Arab countries, but are unable to play a real role in their own country's nation-building. The "next step requires very hard work," He added.

Abadi said the Shura Party will not be for "show" or for " politically décor". It will not serve a particular person nor the government. The new party supreme interest is the State of Jordan and will guard against anyone who would adversely affect the interests of the Jordanian nation. The dangers surrounding the Homeland have reached a critical point, and this requires that we do away with " political niceties."
