Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - King Abdullah met here on Thursday with Arab film producers and urged them to benefit from the great opportunities provided by Jordan in this field.
During the meeting, the King underlined the importance of starting cooperation between Arab producers in the US and their counterparts in the Arab World, mainly in Jordan, to produce movies that convey the genuine Arab values and reflect the concerns in the Arab world, mainly those of the youths.
His Majesty also stressed the importance of the producers to ensure cooperation with the international movie companies operating in Jordan to transfer the US expertise and benefit from the historical, tourism, religious and natural locations in the Kingdom.
The King also spoke about the Royal Film Commission, which was established in 2003 to qualify Jordanians to work in the film industry, noting that the Kingdom produced 150 films since the establishment of the commission, compared with only 5 before the commission was founded.
Speaking on the Arabic digital content, the King said that Jordan is the leading Arab country in digital content, affirming that 75 percent of the Arabic content on the internet was produced by Jordanian experts.
The Arab producers in Los Angeles, for their part, valued the developments of the film industry in Jordan, stressing their desire to explore the potentials which Jordan has in terms of archaeological, historical, religious and natural cites.
They also suggested organizing a film festival in Jordan to attract the international attention to the advantages in Jordan and to promote the Jordanian skills and qualifications in this field.
