Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The U.S. Defense Department has awarded a contract for the sale of Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles to the Jordanian Army. Under the $21.8 million contract, Oshkosh Corp. would supply 12 FMTV platforms over the next 18 months , World Tribune reported.

The Pentagon said the U.S. Army was overseeing the project for Jordan, deemed a leading Middle East ally of Washington.

“Oshkosh Corp, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, was awarded a $21,832,417 modification to partial foreign military sales contract W56HZV-09-D-0159 to add 100 Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles, 88 for the Army Reserve and 12 for the kingdom of Jordan,” the Pentagon said.

FMTV was designed to transport soldiers and supplies. Oshkosh said more than 80 percent of the components were common with other chassis variants in what was meant to reduce logistics and support.

In a statement on May 7, the Pentagon said the tactical vehicles would be delivered by November 2015.

“Work will be performed in Oshkosh, Wisconsin with an estimated completion of Oct. 31, 2015,” the Pentagon said.
