A spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Sabah Rafii, said in a statement to Ammon that Prince Zeid's resignation will be effective by the end of June. Confidential sources revealed to Ammon that Prince Zeid's request to leave his position was due to health issues. Jordan's ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Mr. Bishr Al-Khasawneh, is considered to be a strong candidate likely to replace Prince Zeid at the UN.

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS -Prince Zeid Ra’ad Zeid submitted today his resignation to Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh.

A spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Sabah Rafii, said in a statement to Ammon that Prince Zeid's resignation will be effective by the end of June.
