Jordan-based Accelerator and Fund Expands Across the Middle East

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Tuesday briefed members of the Lower House of Parliament on details available with the government regarding the kidnapping of Jordan's Ambassador to Libya Fawaz Al Etan.

During today's session of the House, chaired by House Speaker Atef Tarawneh, Ensour said that information the government had received indicated that the ambassador was kidnapped by masked gunmen in civilian clothes whose identity was not known.

He added that the masked gunmen opened fire towards the ambassador when he was heading to the office with his driver, kidnapped him and left the driver injured.

The prime minister stressed that our security authorities, the Jordanian Embassy in Libya, the Foreign Ministry and the Government were following up on the issue and will brief the lawmakers about details of the incident as they emerge.

Ensour said the government holds the kidnappers responsible for the safety of Jordan's envoy and will take necessary measures to ensure his release.

Jordan, he added, has always stood besides the Libyan people to achieve security, stability and prosperity, calling on the Libyan authorities and the people to work to free the ambassador.

The prime minister stressed that the government will do its utmost for the release of the Jordanian envoy who is known for his continued efforts to serve Libya, its people, Jordan and Arab diplomacy.

He reiterated the government's continued support to the Libyan people and authorities until they regain peace and security.
