King, US Secretary of State discuss Mideast peace

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - King Abdullah II received on Wednesday US Secretary of State John Kerry, who briefed the King on the latest developments related to the Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations.
At the meeting, which focused on efforts to bring about peace in the region, the King reiterated Jordan's supportive stance towards the peace negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis based on international legitimacy resolutions, the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative.
His Majesty stressed the importance of achieving a just and comprehensive peace, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the Palestinian national soil that preserves Jordan's higher interests, mainly those related to final status issues.
Talks during the meeting also dealt with regional developments, mainly the crisis in Syria.
The meeting was attended by the Royal Court chief, the minister of foreign affairs and expatriate affairs, the director of the King's Office, the King's advisor, the delegation accompanying Kerry and the US ambassador in Amman.
