2 police wounded in raid on Jordan Valley marijuana plantation

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Two policemen were shot and wounded, one seriously, during a raid on a marijuana plantation in the Southern Shouneh district of the Jordan Valley, the Public Security Department (PSD) said on Tuesday.

The PSD Media Centre said a joint force from the West Balqa Police Directorate and the Anti-Narcotics Administration charged into the farm after receiving a tip-off that it was being used to grow "drug material." It said three men inside started shooting at the security forces and an exchange of fire ensued in which two of its members with the rank of corporal were injured. Both were rushed to the hospital, where one was listed in a serious condition and the other had suffered moderate wounds.

It said all the shooters were arrested and two automatic rifles and two revolvers were seized along with quantities of marijuana.

It said an investigation into the case was underway.
