Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - King Abdullah II on Tuesday called for maximizing the values of tolerance, fraternity and co-existence among Muslims and Christians, stressing the role of the church in promoting Muslim-Christian dialogue and common denominators between the heavenly faiths.
Welcoming the Latin Patriarch of the Holy Land and Jordan, Fouad Twal, the King emphasised the need to step up efforts to protect Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, preserve the rights and Arab identity of Jerusalemites and stand by their side against Israeli pressures.
King commended the efforts of the patriarch and the church in safeguarding the rights of Christians in Jerusalem and spreading the message of love and peace in the region.
Twal lauded the King's tireless endeavours to bring about a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East as well as his continued support for Christians in Jordan, Palestine and the region at large.
