Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - People are reporting a Whatsapp outage across the globe. It appears the popular application went down Saturday afternoon in the Cayman Islands.
So far nothing official has been released from the company about the outage. Cayman 27 contacted Whatsapp and we now await a response. The outage comes on the heels of the announcement that Facebook was buying Whatsapp in a deal worth US$ 19 billion. Facebook agreed to pay $4 billion in cash and $12 billion in stock.
The agreement also provides an additional $3 billion in stock grants for Whatsapp’s founders and employees if they stay employed by Facebook for four years.
Whatsapp is used by more than 450 million people. It allows users to send text messages for free over the internet.
