King holds talks with President of Kosovo

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - King Abdullah II on Thursday held talks with President of the Republic of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga, who is on a several-day official visit to Jordan.

The two leaders stressed their desire to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, serving the two friendly peoples.

They also voiced hope that the visit would contribute to boosting cooperation and bilateral ties between Jordan and Kosovo, especially in the fields of economy, trade and investment.

Talks also tackled the current developments in the Middle East, especially those related to efforts to achieve peace and the ongoing U.S.-brokered negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis, based on the two-state solution and the Arab peace initiative. The King stressed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on its national soil with East Jerusalem as capital Eastern was a top Jordanian interests.

The two leaders discussed the repercussions of the Syrian crisis, where they stressed the importance of reaching a comprehensive political solution, with the participation of all segments of the Syrian people. Such solution, they affirm, would spare the Middle East catastrophic ramification of the crisis. The King spoke about the burden borne by Jordan as a result of hosting the largest number of Syrian refugees.

For her part, the visiting President said her country was ready to activate cooperation with Jordan. She also valued the Kingdom’s historical support for the people of Kosovo, especially the active participation in the peace-keeping forces there during the past years.

She also praised the efforts exerted by the kingdom, under the leadership of King Abdullah to support efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East and provide services for Syrian refugees.

Further, she commended the King’s efforts to clarify the true image of Islam and His Majesty's initiatives in this regard, especially the Amman Message and the Common Word initiative.
