Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - King Abdullah II, on Tuesday, held talks with British Prime Minister, David Cameron, that focused on a number of Middle East issues, namely Palestinian-Israeli peace efforts and the crisis in Syria.
The meeting touched on Jordan's relief efforts to a massive influx of Syria refugees on its territory. Cameron said he understands the major burdens borne by Jordan as a result of hosting a large number of refugees, stressing his country's support to Jordan in this regard.
On peacemaking between the Palestinians and Israelis and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's efforts in this context, the King stressed the importance of supporting efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region based on the two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions.
The King asserted that any peace settlement must bring about an independent Palestinian state on Palestinian national soil on the 1967-borders with East Jerusalem as its capital living in peace and security alongside Israel and must preserve Jordan's higher national interests, especially with regard to final status issues.
