King meets Kerry

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - King Abdullah II met Monday with U.S Secretary of State John Kerry and discussed with him the efforts to achieve peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis and the Syrian crisis.

During the meeting, which was attended by Crown Prince Al Hussein Ben Abdullah, the King asserted Jordan's continued support for the peace efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state on the basis of the 1967, July 4th lines with east Jerusalem as its capital.

King Abdullah affirmed that Jordan will continue supporting the peace negotiations based on international legitimacy resolutions, the two-state solution , the Arab peace initiative and in coordination with all parties in a manner that protects its higher welfares related to the final -status issues.

During the meeting, , the developments in the Syrian crisis were also discussed and the king stressed Jordan's stand that supports achieving a comprehensive solution for the crisis. The king pointed to the huge burdens that Jordan is shouldering as a result of hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees on its lands and the pressures it causes on its limited resources.

Secretary of State informed King Abdullah on the developments in peace negotiations and expressed the appreciation of the U.S administration for His Majesty's continued efforts to achieve peace in the region.

Kerry also informed the king on the developments in the Syrian crisis and the American stand from it .He highly valued Jordan's efforts to ease the suffering of the Syrian people and asserted that the U.S will continue its support to Jordan in its relief efforts to the Syrian refugees. The meeting was attended by Chief of the Royal Court, Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, Director of His Majesty's office, His Majesty's Advisor and the Jordanian Ambassador in Washington.
