Where the Sun does not Shine

03-12-2013 03:22 PM

The past few weeks in Jordan have been quite a doozy if you ask me. First we had the Blaqa University fights, then the suspension of several students from a private University up north for stabbing each other, all this coming at the heels of the University fighting that occurred in our southern region not too long ago that required major quelling on the part of our police services.

Secondly; we have the MP’s (or at least it has been floated, depending on which version you get), that they are looking for a vote of no confidence in the present government, the second time this has occurred since this short lived government has come to existence.

Couple all this we some good news from overseas, of the possibility that Jordan could assume a role in the UN Security Council after the rejection of Saudi Arabia to play a role and Jordan’s Nashama football team getting to point in the World Cup qualifiers, that we at least from my point of view, brought out much of the pride that Jordanians feel and want to feel in the future in their country as it embarks on its journey on the world stage; we get a disjointed appearance of what Jordan is to the outsider.

As for the hoodlums that perpetrate these moronic fights at our Universities, the only thing I have to tell them is pull you head out of the place where the sun does not shine, and either join the rest of us or leave as soon as possible, because we do not want people like you representing us in the news. Where you wear hoods, carry clubs. knives and guns to school, such that you can beat, kill, or maim each other, close our Universities and cause mayhem in the streets, is not what we call schooling but hooliganism . Yes you heard me correctly; please join the rest of us people who enjoy the sunshine, instead of keeping your head up where the sunshine cannot enlighten your face and mind.

You neither represent a people, tribe or family, nor can you represent even yourself when confronted with real power, so trust me when I say, we have had enough of your kind. Your minute of fame is ending and fast pal. When you are caught and you will be caught, because we are going to hunt you and those that support you like the wild animals you are, and we are going to make you pay dearly, either by paying, working to fix and or jail sentences or all of the above. You are not famous but infamous now.

I cannot see how your father, mother, family, tribe or even your local student body can tolerate you any longer. You have wasted the effort and money they spend on you, and have disrupted their learning.

Which brings me to my next topic; when are going to learn to give our female citizens more of a chance to represent us? They hold very few public offices or areas of upper management, and almost 60% or more of them are University graduates from the last study I read, which is even higher than their male counter parts.

Please do not tell me it is because of our traditions, religion and culture. We have gone over this too many times. We need to get our collective heads out of where the sun does not shine and embrace them as our mothers, daughters and sisters. They have so much to bring to the table and this brain drain needs to stop and it needs to stop right now. No more excuses, no more because our religion says so, or our tradition says so, these are fallacies that we have to correct as soon as we can.

As for my brothers and sisters under the dome, I can assure you all that we the people could really care very little as to who the prime minister is, as long as he represents this country and the people, and is compassionate and empathetic to their needs. What we do really care about however is our looming debt, and how we are going to pay it off, and our constant begging of other countries for aide to keep our economy going and numbskull hair brained antics and ideas constantly floating around under the dome.

So please do us a favor and pull your heads out of where the sun does not shine; concentrate on our payment of debt, our unemployment, cleaning our streets, and energy and health issues, and stop worrying as to whom leads what! As far as we are all concerned you all work for us, and the more bickering that comes for you all, the more we get frustrated and will demand for all of your ouster, or we will just tune you out.
So please do not burden us with more laws, just enforce all the ones on the books to date, and instead of adding, start subtracting some of the idiot ones, where you make us jump through hoops to get anything done in our public institutions, and look for areas where you can reduce our taxes, like paying yourselves a bit less. We really do not need you all to work 12 months, 24/7. It will suffice if you came in a weekend a month and met. The rest of the time, find real jobs like the rest of us.

To our football team thanks for allowing us a respite from all the bad news. We hope you all can carry on in the coming years and we collectively congratulate you for trying your best. Thank you.

God Bless Jordan and its People.

Abdulillah
