Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Jordan Press Association (JPA) on Saturday announced the start of escalatory measures to demand the change of Ad Dustour’s administration, calling for an open-ended strike outside the paper.
In a statement, the JPA noted that the daily’s management has “deepened” the financial crisis and created a state of tension among employees, especially due to the constant threat to lay off more than 200 employees as part of a restructuring plan.
The association urged Ad Dustour Editor-in-Chief Mohammad Tal to immediately resign from the board to avoid becoming an “accomplice” to the “crime” it is planning to commit by firing staff members.
The JPA warned that it will hold Tal accountable if he does not resign and take part in the strike.
A total of 100 employees have been laid off so far by the current administration, according to the JPA, which warned the government committee entrusted with studying the daily’s file against allowing the management to fulfil its plans.
