Nearly 200 youth graduate from USAID-sponsored hospitality training program

Ammon News - Petra - A graduation ceremony hosted the United State Agency for International Development's(USAID) Youth for the Future project, honored 186 young hospitality trainees, following a three-month training program at the Jordanian Hospitality and Tourism Education Company (JHTEC). The graduation ceremony was held under the patronage of the Minister of Labour and Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nidal Karamine.

The program was funded by USAID and implemented by the International Youth Foundation (IYF) in partnership with the Jordanian government.

The event highlighted the different career cycle phases that the trainees underwent, including one-on-one interviews, career guidance, screening and enrollment in training courses, two-week internships and actual job placements.

"We are working throughout Jordan to provide capacity building and training to promote careers in the hospitality sector which encompasses hotels, restaurants and room service in hospitals, commented IYF Jordan Country Director Rana Al Turk.

Chairman of the Jordan Hotel Association Michael Nazzal said the goal was to help provide young Jordanians, especially females with access to essential tools and skills that aid them in finding employment and subsequently altering the curse of their lives.

The IYF is a five-year program of the International Youth Foundation (IYF) carried out in partnership with the USAID and the government of Jordan. It aims to an enabling environment for vulnerable youth by improving the quality of services offered to young individuals.
