Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) – Interior Minister Hussein Majali said on Saturday that a solution to the Kingdom's various problems and challenges is closely tied to the ability of all official agencies and social forces to enforce the law and protect the prestige of the state.

"Facing up to the socio-economic, political and security challenges fundamentally hinges upon the existing cooperation between various state agencies and citizens, and everyone being aware of the extent of the dangers the region is reeling under," he said in a statement.

The minister said Jordan is in the midst of a volatile region plagued by conflict, which warranted societal awareness leading to national cohesion to prevent the Kingdom from sliding into conflict and safeguard its security, which is "a sacred duty that everyone should uphold and defend." The sovereignty of law, he stressed, would inevitably bring economic growth and prop up investment and tourism ventures that the Kingdom badly needs now more than ever due to the tough economic conditions. This will also help address the economic impact of the waves of migrations, in the form of creating job opportunities.

He urged all stakeholders in the labour market to give employment opportunities to Jordanian job seekers "in these critical circumstances." "The volume of investment and tourism projects in many world nations hinged, first and foremost, on a solid security base in those countries and their ability to enforce the law and defend the state’s prestige," he said, explaining that a feeling of security by investors and tourists would encourage them to launch projects.

However, Majali pointed out that merely seeking a security solution is a big mistake and can have adverse consequences. Instead, he stressed the need for dialogue and finding appropriate solutions to address various social, economic- and security-related woes so that each individual shoulders the national and moral responsibility which will be the best way to conquer the challenges.
