King attends morning assembly at the Abdul Hamid Sharaf School

Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) – His Majesty King Abdullah II attended the morning assembly at the Abdul Hamid Sharaf School on Thursday and joined the students in raising the Jordanian flag to the sound of the national anthem.

The King also honored students who had topped the General Secondary Education Certificate examination (Tawjihi) in recognition of their excellence and creativity.

His Majesty signed the visitors' book at the school which was established in 1924. In the remarks he scribbled, the King expressed appreciation for the school's role in spreading the message of education and supporting the march of progress and development in the country.

He also toured the vocational workshops at the school to check on the quality of education being offered to the students.

As part of his vision to support education, King Abdullah instructed the concerned officials at the Royal Court to rehabilitate vocational workshops at the school in coordination with the Education Ministry and private sector institutions, and set up a partnership with private sector institutions to achieve this objective.

While chatting with the students, the King recalled his own experience at the school, affirming the importance of vocational work and its role in building societies and countries.

Education Minister Mohammad Thneibat, in his remarks during the morning assembly, highlighted the King's support to the march of education in Jordan, thanks to his continued initiatives and keen interest in the educational process, teaching staff as well as students.

He said the ministry will carry out a comprehensive review to develop the educational sector further, build on the major accomplishments achieved so far and enhance the role of teachers.
