Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Jordanian government on Thursday reiterated that Jordan stands firm on its position in calling for a political solution in Syria, and stressed the need for dialogue between various parties in the neighboring country.

A senior Jordanian official told Ammon News on Thursday that Jordan rejects any military action against Syria that would use Jordanian territories as a "launchpad" for a military strike, and reiterated Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour's statements to foreign press on Wednesday that "Jordan will not be part of the war in Syria."

In clarifying Ensour's statements in a report published by BBC English on Wednesday, the government official noted that the premier was responding to consecutive questions posed by the journalist regarding the possibility of an attack on the Syrian regime and Jordan's position of military intervention in the neighboring country.

Ensour had noted that if a strike is to be carried out against the Syrian regime, "it ought to be limited and avoids further bloodshed."

The government official told Ammon News that some media outlets took the premier's statements out of context, stressing instead that Jordan holds firm to its stance in support of a political solution to the ongoing conflict in Syria.
