Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) – The Independent Elections Commission (IEC) today said it has set up a special operations room at its headquarters to monitor balloting and vote-counting as the Kingdom’s citizens vote in the municipal elections on Tuesday.
IEC Media and Communication Director Sharaf Eddine Abu Rumman said the operations room will directly receive complaints and queries from its representatives in the field, and the citizens in general, via phone numbers posted on its website and publicised.
The centre, he added, will receive E-forms filled by IEC representatives in municipalities and polling and vote-counting centres and build a date base to closely monitor the progress of balloting in order to enable the Commission to promptly detect any violations that might occur on the election day. In addition, he added, the special monitoring body will help compile reports and statistics about the extent of the election management's adherence to regulations. All this will be documented in a detailed report about all stages of the electoral process that will be sent to the prime minister once final results are announced.
Abu Rumman said the operations room will be open to the media on election day.
