Ammon News - BEIRUT (The Daily Star) - Lebanon lodged a complaint Wednesday with the United Nations over the recent incursion by Israel soldiers into southern Lebanon.
The protest, filed by caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour, described the Israeli violation as a “threat to international peace and security.”
“This [Israeli] act constitutes a flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty, U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701, international law and the U.N. Charter,” the complaint said.
Last week, four Israeli soldiers were wounded by an explosion after they crossed the border into southern Lebanon.
Gen. Paolo Serra, commander of the U.N. peacekeeping force in Lebanon, said days after the incident that Israel had crossed the Blue Line into Lebanon, in a breach of U.N. resolutions.
Serra urged both the Jewish State and Beirut to cooperate fully with the investigation.
