‘WHO pledges $5 million grant to help Jordan in refugee crisis’

Ammon News - AMMAN — World Health Organisation (WHO) Representative in Jordan Akram Eltoum announced during a meeting with Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Saturday, that the WHO would provide the Health Ministry with a $5 million grant donated from Kuwait.

The grant is meant to help the ministry cope with the growing pressure imposed by hundreds of thousands of Syrians refugees, especially in the northern governorates.

During the meeting, Ensour thanked the WHO for its support to the Kingdom highlighting the pressures on its infrastructure due to hosting over half-a-million Syrian refugees.

Also on Saturday, Health Minister Mujalli Mhailan said 10 per cent of the patients received in hospitals and healthcare centres in the northern region are Syrian refugees. (Petra)
