Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) – His Majesty King Abdullah II met with a delegation of the US House of Representatives and discussed bilateral ties, the ongoing efforts to achieve peace in the region as well as the Syrian crisis.
The King praised the US assistance to Jordan that helped the Kingdom in carrying out its developmental programs.
On the Middle East peace process, His Majesty said Jordan will continue supporting the efforts aimed at reviving the peace negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis to discuss all final status issues, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital based on the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative.
In this regard, the King highlighted the importance of the United States' role and the efforts exerted by US Secretary of State John Kerry to push the peace process forward.
On Syria, King Abdullah expressed his concern over developments in the neighboring country, stressing the need to end violence and arrive at a comprehensive political solution that ends bloodshed and preserves Syria's unity.
Members of the delegation praised the role played by King Abdullah to achieve peace in the Middle East and the Kingdom's reform process led by His Majesty.
The meeting was attended by Royal Court’s Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh and the US Ambassador to Jordan Stuart Jones.
