Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A senior official in the Jordan Muslim Brotherhood (MB) movement on Saturday denied reports that the Global Organization of the Muslim Brotherhood delegated Jordan's MB General Supervisor, Hammam Saeed, to take the position of Supreme Guide of the movement amid the turmoil in Egypt and the arrests and warrants issued against senior Muslim Brotherhood leaders there.

The source, who did not want his name disclosed, told Ammon News on Saturday that the media reports on delegating Saeed are categorically untrue, particularly that Saeed is not a member in the General Guidance Office of the global organization.

He stressed that there are mechanisms and regulations to choosing the Supreme Guide and members of the Guidance office, which consists of 13 members. The Overall Guide is chosen through internal voting in the General Shura (Consultation) Council of the Global organization, consisting of 90 members in various countries.

Media sources had reported that internal information was leaked on Thursday disclosing that Saeed was delegated to deputize for Muhammad Badie', the Supreme Guide of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, because the latter is "preoccupied" considering the arrest warrants issued by Egypt's military against senior MB leaders following the military overthrow of deposed president Mohammad Morsi earlier this month.

It is noted that Khairat al-Shater is currently the first deputy to the Muslim Brotherhood's supreme guide, followed by Mahmoud Ezzat.

Another Jordan MB official told Ammon News that the General Guidance Office of the global organization includes in its membership Jordanian Brotherhood senior figure, Abdul Majid Thneibat. The source noted that the Guidance Office will carryout internal elections towards the end of the year.

Later on Saturday, Deputy General Supervisor of Jordan's Muslim Brotherhood, Zaki Bani Ersheid also denied the media reports, citing them as "false fabrications."

The unverified media reports alleged that upon being delegated to the position of deputy Supreme Guide, Saeed has been speaking in the name of the global organization "amid silence from the leadership of Jordan's Muslim Brotherhood."

The reports mentioned that Saeed posted on the social networking site, Facebook, on Thursday "in his new administrative role," comments regarding the "military coup" carried out by the Egyptian Army to depose Morsi.
