Deputy Press Secretary of Japanese Foreign Ministry holds press conference

Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) Deputy Press Secretary of Japanese Foreign Ministry Koichi Mizushima on Friday stressed Japan's support of Jordan's efforts to establish peace and stability in the region.

Mizushima affirmed, in a press conference held today, the strong relations between Jordan and Japan, voicing his country's keenness on supporting Jordan to ease the burden the kingdom is shouldering as a result of hosting hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees.

So far, Japan has provided $ 95 million to aid Syrian refugees, 40% of which were extended to Syrian refugees in Jordan, the Japanese official said.

He also praised Jordan's efforts, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, to realize reforms in all fields.

Mizushima affirmed the importance of Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida's visit to the kingdom and his talks with the King, the prime minister, and the foreign minister.

He also outlined outcomes of the ministerial meeting of the Four Party Consultative Unit for the initiative of the Corridor for Peace and Prosperity, which was held on Thursday in Jericho.

Earlier today, the Japanese Foreign Minister concluded a two-day visit to Jordan, during which he held talks with King Abdullah and senior officials and visited the Zaatri Refugee Camp.
