Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) – Speaker of the Lower House Saad Srour reiterated the centrality of the Palestinian issue and the need to find a just, lasting and comprehensive solution that could lead to the establishment of the Palestinian state on the Palestinian soil, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and compensation and return for the refugees.

During a meeting with Iranian Ambassador in Amman Mostafa Mosleh-Zadeh on Monday, Srour said the tense situation in Syria was a cause of great worry for Jordan since the repercussions from the crisis were having a huge effect on the Kingdom across the political, social and economic spheres, besides affecting the whole region.

He stressed the need to find a transitional as well as a comprehensive political solution to the crisis to bring to an end the escalating violence, bloodshed, and sufferings of the Syrian people while at the same time preserve the unity of the Syrian people and territories.

Srour pointed out the importance of the role of the international community, especially that of Iran, to intensify efforts to find such a solution.

He noted the deep rooted ties between Jordan and Iran and the huge opportunities to enhance these ties in all fields, especially in parliamentary work.

For his part, the Iranian ambassador expressed his country's interest in strengthening ties with Jordan in all areas, especially in the economic field, joint investments and the exchange of goods.

"We in Iran agree with your stand on several issues; we, as you do, support the Palestinian cause, reject the 'substitute homeland' project, affirm the right of return and compensation for the Palestinian refugees and see eye to eye on finding a political solution for the Syrian crisis," he said.

Mosleh-Zadeh praised Jordan's role, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, on all regional issues.
