Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A 10-year old child died as a result of smoke inhalation in a home fire in an eastern Amman district on Monday.

A security source said that the fire erupted in a home in Al-Hashemi al-Shamali district in eastern Amman while the family was inside.

The child was killed in the fire, while her mother, 12 and 8 year old sisters, and 11 year old brother and three others suffered from breathing difficulties and burn wounds.

The family members were rushed to Prince Hamzeh state-run hospital and are in stable condition, the source added.

The fire had engulfed the whole home along with all its contents, the source noted.

Spokesperson of the Civil Defense Department (PSD) Fariq Sharaa said that CDD cadres managed to contain the fire in Dahiyat al-Aqsa neighborhood, which engulfed the 80 square meter home.

Sharaa said that the 10-year old child died as a result of asphyxiation, and the 7 others were rushed to the hospital after suffering from breathing difficulties.
