Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minutes before sunset, drivers on the road are rushing to get home or to their fast-breaking destination before the Maghrib (sunset) call to prayer signals the end of the fast for the day.

The holy month of Ramadan, which began on Wednesday July 10th this year, witnesses increased traffic violations and tragic accidents particularly around sunset time, when fasting Muslims break their day-long fast.

The picture is of a horrific accident that occurred in Muqablain district south of Amman less than an hour before sunset on Wednesday, the first day of Ramadan.

The Public Security Department and the Civil Defense Department continues to urge citizens, drivers and pedestrians, to be vigilant and avoid speeding and hazardous driving, particularly around sunset time.

From Ammon News, our message to all of us: Do not speed, protect your lives and the lives of others. Preserve the safety, sanctity, and serenity of life and property.

Although it is our job, but it nonetheless saddens us every time to report on horrific accidents caused by speed and recklessness.
