2014 Women in Science Hall of Fame Program Is Open for Participation

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The U.S. Embassy in Amman is once again seeking outstanding female Jordanian scientists to honor in the 2014 Women in Science Hall of Fame program. The deadline to apply is August 1st, 2013.

Every year, twelve women from a variety of scientific disciplines are selected for their professional accomplishments and ability to motivate and inspire young women to pursue scientific careers. Each of these role models demonstrates that women can balance demanding careers with fulfilling personal lives.

Since its inception, 49 outstanding Arab women from different scientific backgrounds have been honored by the program. Prior honorees include: Engineer Elham Zeadat, founder of Bloom Dead Sea Gift Enterprises – 2013; Dr. Wejdan Abu Al-Haija, Dean of the King Abdullah II School of Engineering at Princess Sumaya University for Science and Technology – 2012; and Assistant Director Reem Hamdan, an electrical engineer with the Electricity Distribution Company – 2011.

The Women in Science Hall of Fame program was launched in 2010 by the Environment, Science, Technology and Health Regional Office at the U. S. Embassy in Amman, to honor outstanding Arab female scientists throughout the Middle East and North Africa.
