Saudi Arabia to equip Mafraq military hospital

Ammon News - AMMAN The Saudi Fund for Development has agreed to continue construction and to equip the new Mafraq Military Hospital at a cost of JD19 million ($26.8 million), the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation announced on Saturday.

The funding is part of the $1.25 billion that Saudi Arabia had pledged to Jordan as part of a $5-billion grant from four Gulf Arab states, the Ministry added in a press release issued today.

The government has asked the Fund authorities to speed up funding on the project to provide better services for citizens in Mafraq, 80kilometres northeast of Amman.

Further, authorities in Jordan have obtained the necessary approvals from the Saudi Fund to commence bidding to equip the 150-bed hospital.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Fund for Development will provide funding for healthcare projects worth $165 million in Jordan.
