Minister of Culture receives Palestinian counterpart

Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra)-Minister of Culture Barakat Awajan on Sunday received Palestinian Minister of Culture Anwar Abu Aisha to discuss ways to develop and follow up on the bilateral agreement between the two ministries and enact an executive program for cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Awajan said Palestine is the beating heart of the Arabs and the issue of Jerusalem and the Al Aqsa Mosque is in the heart of every Jordanian, noting that Jordan and Palestine are joined by one culture and connected by blood, geography and sacred ties.

He also stressed the need to concentrate on assuring the new generation remains aware of major Arab issues, such as Jerusalem and Al Aqsa Mosque, reiterating the depth and uniqueness of the bilateral ties and the joint cultural markers.

For his part, Abu Aisha said Jordan and Palestine have strong ties and common denominators, pointing out that Al Aqsa is in danger due to Israeli excavations and tunnels under mosque, while praising the Kingdom's role in preserving Jerusalem and the Al Aqsa Mosque.
