The spokesman would not say how many infiltrators were involved or disclose other details. He spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations. Jordan is concerned about reports that fighters from the Lebanese Hezbollah are reinforcing Syrian troops trying to retake control of Daraa province across the Jordanian border. Daraa is a key supply route for weapons for rebels. Predominantly Sunni Muslim Jordan is nervous about the growing influence of Shiite Iran in the region. Iran is the main backer of both Hezbollah and the Syrian regime.
