Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan's national football team head coach Adnan Hamad announced on Tuesday that he will not renew his contract with the team.

Hamad's announcement came during a press conference after the World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday night that witnessed Jordan's victory over Oman 1-0, qualifying the Kingdom's team for the first time ever to the Asian zone playoff.

The Iraqi coach, whose contract expired on Tuesday, said that he is proud of the team's accomplishments in the past years, and of the team players' advancement after a challenging journey towards the World Cup qualifiers.

Hamad was named as head coach of Jordan's National football team, Al Nashama, in February 2009, coaching the team to reach unprecedented victories in both the Asian Cup and the World Cup qualifiers.

In the match held at the King Abdullah International Stadium in Amman Tuesday night, Jordan's Ahmad Hayel scored the sole goal in the game in the minute 57 with a diving header after a pass from teammate Khalil Bani Attiyah.

Jordan's victory over third-place Oman on Tuesday qualifies it as the only Arab team in the Asia group, securing a spot against Uzbekistan in the Asian zone playoff.

Jordan finished third behind Japan and Australia, the top two teams in group B to qualify for the 2014 finals directly, with Jordan and Uzbekistan competing to a chance to qualify via an intercontinental qualifying tie.

Jordan will meet Uzbekistan on September 6 and 10, with the winner playing the fifth-place team from South America (winner of series between Venezuela and Uruguay) for a place at the World Cup.
